This epic journey offered a wealth of landscapes. Under the Art Direction of Alice Bird and Prod Design of Nelson Lowry, our fabrication team created bamboo groves, pine forests, snowscapes, fern-filled cemeteries, scorched village ruins, and Origami Boat(s) built of 365k+ paper leaves.
I specialized in foam-carving and texturing. Among my pride-and-joys were snow-buried Statue Ruins, Sariatu's Cave, the Skull Island jaw, the Whale Carcass interior; and the Cemetery Riverbank.
Mid-production, I transitioned to Set Dressing, shepherding boat sequences, journey montages, and the MoonKing's origami temple. A highlight was helping dress the epic final zoom out as Kubo's strum on his Shamisen reverberates across Hanzo's fortress. I also dressed marketing spots and press displays, as well as the post-credits Odokuro button.
